# Security Overview

> How Righthand keeps your data and accounts secure

## Overview

Righthand is designed with security at every layer — from how your credentials are stored to how your Righthands communicate with the outside world. This page provides a high-level summary of the security controls available to you.

## Connection Security

All credentials and connection data are **encrypted at rest** and **in transit**. OAuth is used as the default connection method wherever possible, so your passwords are never shared with or stored by Righthand.

Every connection has layered access controls — including **connection scope**, **Righthand access**, and **granular tool permissions** — so you decide exactly who can use each connection and what they can do with it.

## External Communications

You control whether each Righthand can reach out to people outside your team. The **External Comms** setting lets you choose between **Allow**, **Ask**, or **Never** for each Righthand — giving you full control over outbound emails, messages, and calls.

## Voice Authentication

For phone calls, Righthand supports **voice authentication passphrases** — a simple way for the person on the other end of a call to verify they're speaking with your Righthand.
